Seven (7) From Nemrel - 10.09.06
Posted on 10.08.06.
We’re back to business after a slight hiatus the last two weeks. I had some pretty major computer problems at work and had to work to get our Point of Sale system back up and running. Now things are fixed and I can write my Seven (7) list this week. Enjoy! PS: I’m posting this a little early to make up for not posting over the last few weeks.
Mr. Picasso Head
http://www.mrpicassohead.com
What would happen if Pablo Picasso had invented Mr. Potato Head? Well it sure as heck would be much cooler (maybe not as cool as Mr. Potato from the Toy Story movies). Well this interactive site allows you to pretend you’re Picasso and let’s you create your own piece of art. Once finished you can send your creation to your friends via email, add it to the sites gallery or print a copy for Mom’s fridge. You can just jump right in and create your own Picasso-like art or just enjoy the works of the Virtual Pablo’s around the globe.
How Many Have Died
http://www.pittsburghnewage.net/fallen/fallen.htm
The war in Iraq has lasted longer than WWII and has also surpassed WWII in the death of American soldiers in combat and peacekeeping missions. Just how many have died since we “liberated” the Iraqi people? I wanted to know and decided to create a website that had an updated script on it for the American casualties from the war. I think it is important to look at the numbers, to try and wrap our heads around just how many American lives have passed since Shock and Awe amazed us as we watched reporters imbedded with soldiers, since Bush declared Victory on that Airship in the Gulf, since the capture of former Iraqi leader Saddam Heusen, during the beheadings and brutal reign of Zarqawi, to Zarqawi’s death, during the Iraqi Civil War and up until today’s victories and set-backs in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. The script letting us know just how many have died comes from another website and is updated based on the Department of Defense’s own daily and cumulative casualty lists.
Thing In A Jar
http://www.traipse.com/thing_in_a_jar
What is it? Is it human? Is it from an experiment gone wrong? Was it once alive? Did it come from a secret government facility? Actually it’s pretty simple and a neat gift for your friends! Make them. Leave them laying around at parties. Put them in your refrigerator. Give them as wedding presents. Your friends will love you for sure!
I Park Like An Idiot
http://iparklikeanidiot.com
There is nothing worse in life than being a larger person and having to park next to some person in an SUV who has decided that they should park 6 inches over the white line and in your spot - just so that they can get out quickly and grab their cup of morning coffee. Usually I curse at the said vehicle and move on, occasionally I will write on a piece of paper how inconsiderate the individual was, but if I was just a little more daring I sure as hell would invest in 100 of these stickers and exact my revenge. For those of us too timid, shy and compassionate to actually use these stickers there is a gallery of site visitor images who have used the stickers. Maybe some sort of gratification can be achieved at the works of others.
Animates Gif Desktop Backgrounds
http://www.koehnline.com/newgifs
A gif image is a special type of graphic file that allows movement to take place in the image. A lot of discussion boards have little emoticons or smileys that move around and do funny things – well each of these images is a gif file. Gif’s can be fun and add interesting animation to websites, but what a lot of people don’t know is that a gif can be used as your desktop wallpaper. When you set a gif as your wallpaper you are also able to make it Tile – ending result is filling your screen with an array of moving images. Go to this website and hover your mouse over the box that has the guys face. You will see a number and an image appear. Click that image and it will open with dozens of itself tiled in the window. Now right click anywhere and hit SAVE AS. Save the image to your desktop. Close or minimize your browser window and in Windows right click anywhere on your desktop that doesn’t have anything on it. Hit Properties and your Display Setting will appear. Click the Desktop tab. Now use the browse function and find your newly saved gif image. Be sure to set the desktop image to Tile under the Position box. Click OK and enjoy your new moving desktop. To hide your desktop icons in XP just right click again anywhere on the screen that has nothing on it. Hit Arrange Icons By. Then make sure Show Desktop Icons doesn’t have a check next to it, if so just click those words and it will unclick the option.
Real Time HTML Editor
http://htmledit.squarefree.com
This is simply one of the best resources around for using HTML on discussion boards, MySpace, blogs and other sites. You just type what you think the code will and in the bottom window it will show you what it will look like rendered in a browser window. Of course some knowledge of HTML is required, but for those of you who want to try learning it – this site is perfect. For a listing of HTML tags and codes to try out www.htmlgoodies.com/primers/html/article.php/3478151 & www.htmlcodetutorial.com/ .
StripGenerator
http://www.stripgenerator.com
Have you ever heard the following: “Oh you’re sooooo funny – too bad you draw like crap”? Well now you don’t have to be limited to what everyone else says about your artistic abilities. Just design your comic genius in the StripGenrator and crush all those who have laughed at you! Die you commie bastards!!! If you wish to save your artwork just hit your PRINT SCREEN button on your keyboard, open any art editing program and select PASTE from the menu bar or menu commands. However you can create your own comics, remember that you really are using somebody else’s code, drawings and concept and you are unable to sell your images from this site. Instead just make funny stuff and if your friends like it hire an artist to recreate your works.
